This week The Well becomes a worship venue. Local bands The Nordlingers, Here Comes the Dreamer, and That Band (Lauren, Meredith, and Kellan) will be playing along with The Well’s house worship band.

We will also have a few videos including Sean Kerr’s testimony through paintings.

It’s sure to be a unique experience. We hope you will come out and celebrate the last The Well of the semester!

A few of us from BCM have the opportunity to go to Catalyst this week. If you are unfamiliar with Catalyst, it is a 3-day leadership event in Atlanta Georgia. This year’s speakers include Matt Chandler, Francis Chan, Andy Stanley, and Louie Giglio… just to name a few. We will head out tomorrow and be gone through Friday. If you want to know a little bit about what’s going on at the conference, you can get instant updates from Twitter. A couple Twitterers to check out would be The Well (of course) and Russ Bennett.

Hope everyone has a great fall break!

To get further connected you can start following us on Twitter, there will be a lot of advantages to following The Well, including instant updates and chances to win free stuff!

Come to The Well this week to hear student testimonies, worship, and a full introduction to using the website. There’s also going to be a special performance by someone from the Theater department (Brittany Roether) that you don’t want to miss!

Who is Jesus?

No really… who is Jesus?

It’s an elementary question really, one you learned to give the perfect and simple answer to in Sunday School… but what do you really know about the Son of God?

What do you believe about Jesus? What is your relationship with Him?

  • Is it a set of rules?
  • Is it a quest for knowledge?
  • Is it an expectation of the father you always wanted?
  • Or is He just a glorified hippie in history?

What was Jesus’s Purpose on Earth?

What did Jesus tell us His role was in the course of history? (Matthew 5:17)

Matthew 17:1-13

How often do you get so caught up in your desire to live a sanitary life or gain Biblical knowledge that you forget to genuinely seek and love the source of all that the law and the prophets hinge on?

Who is Jesus?

Was He what the Jews expected Him to be?

Is He what you make him out to be?

Who is Jesus?

  • Do you know Him?
  • What pleases Him?
  • What breaks His heart?
  • What makes Him laugh?

Jesus’ existence was Heaven meeting Earth.

The Church representation of Jesus on earth, its existence is the continuation of the Kingdom existing in the physical plain.

Who is Jesus?

How are you representig Him?

Do you know and encounter a living God on a daily basis?

  • What are you doing in the name of Jesus? Is He pleased with the way you use His name?
  • What does it mean to know God?

Word pictures for Jesus

  • Rabbi (teacher, mentor)
-Do we love out Rabbi’s words? (Joshua 1:8 )
-How far will we go to know the story?
-How far are we willing to follow our Teacher?
  • Shepherd
-Do we recognize the guiding voice of our shepherd?
  • Father
-What is your image of a father?
-What is your image of the Father?
    -
How far will you go to find rest in your Dad’s arms?
  • In the Bible, we are shown two instances where Jesus weeps.
-Over the people at Lazarus’ funeral (John 11)
-More bitterly over Jerusalem because they were so lost in religion that they missed Him. (Luke 19:41-44)
  • Are you missing Jesus?
  • Is the living God really the one behind all the “good” things you are doing?

Have  you become so busy with “stuff?”

with school?

with church?

with work?

with doing good?

with ministry?

Have you become so involved in seeking religion and a pure way of living that you have missed the true, loving, and living God who is the center of all those thing?
